Schiehallion, first Munro

This was my first attempt at climbing a Munro, and, trepidation aside, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The weather was changeable, and the summit was wrapped in cloud. Not knowing what to expect I ploughed ahead, passing a number of other walkers/climbers en route, and learned a huge amount about appropriateness of kit on the way(jacket too heavy, trousers not waterproof, could have done this in lighter boots), but to be truthful I was not prepared for the rain when it hit.
Being unfamiliar with the climb, and having to navigate the last mile or so of the ridge in thick cloud without marked paths gave me cause for concern, but once I remembered I had my compass and Landranger handy if I needed them, plus I was standing still and listening for other climbers to get my bearings, I made the summit in a little over two hours.

It was a real shame about the weather, footage and photos on this and other sites lead me to suspect I will be returning to Schiehallion after a few more climbs, hoping to catch it on a clear day.

Thanks, as you've all guessed I'm new to this so any recommendations for next climbs will be very gratefully received.

I'm considering doing Ben Lawers and Ben Chonzie this coming week, but will happily take advice.

Ben Chonzie is very straightforward although I didn't go via the Loch and followed the route from here.

Ben Lawers will give you great views as well as the chance to climb Beinn Ghlas on the way to it.
