The first time we attempted (Sarah and David attempt) this was in deep snow back in February 2010 when we managed a quarter of the way up the side of Beinn Ghlas and had to turn back because of the enormous snowdrifts and squally blizzards coming in. We met an outdoorsy-looking Scotsman in the deep snow with his not-so-outdoorsy -looking girlfriend.
The girlfriend was at least a quarter of a mile behind the Scotsman who had pretty much abandoned her, leaving her red faced and exhausted-looking in the snow. We went on a little farther until we couldn't go any further becuase of the weather closing in and on our return we were much relieved to see the poor girlfriend looking like the weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders as they too made their way back to Ben Lawers' car park.

This attempt (In August 2011), however was a different story altogether. Great day for climbing, bright, warm and non-too breezy. Sooooo glad we came back to bag Beinn Ghlas and the 10th highest Munro, Ben Lawers, banishing memories of blundering about in blizzards. Alice's first double Munro bag and our first 4000plus Munro. Climbed by Sarah (11), David (11), Alice(8) and Sam(8)
