When i asked Kim if she fancied a few days at Onich in the caravan, she nodded and suggested taking Claire up Ben Nevis while we were there but quickly followed it by we're not going up the north route. That was that then, i'd have to be a tourist for the day :( . No harm though as would be good to get Claire up the highest mountain in Britain and i can allways go up the Ben via Carn Mor Dearg another time. We would decide what day to go once we were up there and the Thursday was chosen as it appeared to be the best day, unfortunately it wasn't and we got light rain for a bit and clag all the way up, not clearing till we were halfway down. Nothing to say about Ben Nevis that hasn't allready been said, all you do is walk up the path and follow the tourists, some will say hello some won't. Once at the summit you then join in the circus then walk back down again. :D

I'm sorry JC, but to be a "tourist" on Ben Nevis you'd have had to be wearing sensible shoes and your wife would have had to be wearing heels  Also, you'd have had to have your gear in a carrier bag, with your fluid of choice being either Stella or a 2 litre bottle of Strongbow  You all looked far to well prepared to be "tourists" - I mean, you had waterproofs and walking poles too.

But seriously though, it's good to see families out enjoying the hills. If only I could get my two boys out for a few walks I'd be a happy chappy :D So well done to all three of you :D

Yes, well done to you all! It's still a fair old trek getting and down the Ben, the old knees know it that's for sure. Great work Claire :D :D

Well done Claire - pity about the weather but, as you say, you can always go back via CMD, when the Ben Nevis crowds have died down a bit ! - cheers :)

Thanks for all the replies, it is without doubt a tough walk, i struggled with sore feet on the way down while Claire left me standing. Pete, you know too much about the tourists, are a tourist turned hillwalker
