After my exertions on Beinn Eighe on Wednesday it was the turn of Beinn Alligin on Friday (being unable to walk on Thursday
). This mountain was to be for me, an exercise in mind over matter, facing up to my fear of heights and exposure and taking on the horns. After alot of advice re which direction to go in (half say one way, half say the other) I opted to go for the horns first, for two reasons. Firstly I would still be fresh when going up and down them, and secondly if I wanted the two munros I couldn't just not do them. I'm aware that there's a bypass path but would have been really dissappointed in myself if I'd taken it. As it was, I really, really loved (almost) every minute on the horns and stuck to the highest points
. It was much easier and much more fun than I expected.
The rest of the walk seemed a breeze after that, though I was a bit surprised at how steep the route up to Tom na Gruagaich was, though I did have the pleasure of meeting Dotty and Hils who I had a couple of drinks with later that night in Kinlochewe.
The weather all day was just outstanding, in fact almost too hot, hardly any breeze at all. Overall probably my best day in the hills so far
