Begin this short walk, after lunch or maybe evening in summer, at the hangmans sign........the Balnascriten track end. The track is becoming a bit more worn now after fading, on account of the growing plantation, but doesn't quite follow the exact line marked on the OS map. Pass a small lochan before zig zagging upwards to follow a fine path that the biking boys have enhanced by removing saplings to allow their horns to pass between the trees. Cross open terrain over an old stalkers track that zig zags towards Carn Ban Beag and continue upwards to the summit following a feint path. Good views in all directions from the top. Descend over springy heather and moss to reach the bridge crossing the Allt Ruadh burn and follow the normal, nowadays, Sgor Gaoith track to the parking area. Take the Glen Feshie road South passing the Hostel to reach the start point.

Above the lochan the trees are untouched by the chainsaws and the fine old path takes you out to the area beneath the final climb onto Ghiuthsachan.

The old stalkers track which leads up onto the Carn Ban Beag area.
2 out across Loch Insh to the Monadhliaths.jpg[/attachment] We walk this route fairly often, usually after lunch, and I have taken along the GPS for 'tracking' the route and the 'perched stones' seem to roughly follow the line of old footpath through the, now felled, plantation.

The small lochan after the, now, felled area at the start of the walk... Some kind folks have now marked the route through to the lochan with stones perched on the stumps of the felled trees.
