Glen Falloch to Loch Fyne taking in a wee Corbett

My cousin has continually asked me to visit him when in the Loch Fyne area walking. As I had finished the munros and corbetts in the area I looked for a way to catch up, but take in a hill on route. So decided on Meall an Fhudair !! :?

Parked straight across the road from Glen Falloch Farm, where there was enough room for 2 cars. Jumped over the locked gate and followed the steep track, crossing the railway bridge and headed up towards the pylon..where the road forks.

At the fork in the road i attempted to take the right fork however a cow was standing in the middle of the track and wasn’t for budging… then the other 10 cows started staring at me !! When the cow lifted its front leg and started rubbing it on the path as though about to charge I decided on a detour across boggy ground next to the fence avoiding the cows. To the guy who was behind I did know there was a path and I wasn’t just daft! Managed to pick up a few ticks on the way. :D

Due to the scare from the cows I didn’t see a cairn to mark the start of the walk, followed the track for about 1km and then decided to head up the east side of Troisgeach.

Found the climb pretty straightforward. Stopped at 500m to check the map and got swarmed with midges so moved on swiftly. :(

As i started walking again the cloud level was at 550 and I couldn’t see a thing. Navigation was extremely difficult as I had nothing to navigate of off. Bypassed a few large lochans. i decided to pull out the GPS on 2 occasions to get a bearing only and used the map and compass to find the summit of Troisgeach. Once at the summit of Troisgeach i took another bearing and headed west towards the summit of Meall an Fhudair. The walk from Troisgeach to the summit of Meall an Fhudair was across very boggy terrain and bypassing some small lochans.

Again found the climb to the summit pretty straightforward and very chuffed with myself in navigating in difficult conditions ..Compass and map were out for the majority of the days walk :)

Quick stop at the summit for a picture. Clouds reappeared. Took a bearing and headed down very steep deep grassy ground towards the Lairig Arnan. The river was quite deep so continued along the grassy faint path until i eventually found a good spot to cross the river and picked up a great track.

Headed passed a derelict house, over a bridge and down passed the Power Station towards the Brewery.
The Brewery is well worth a visit and has a wee beer garden outside :D

There is a great path, although lengthy, all the way to Loch Fyne and it would be a great way to tackle Meall an Fhudair from here by taking a bike right up to the power station and walk the rest of the way towards the Lairig Arnan at the bottom of Meall an Fhudair.

6 hours 30 minutes and a wee lift back to Glen Falloch afterwards
