For my boys first ever walk, I took them to Carrot Hill & Dodd Hill, Angus. This is only 10mins away from my house and I only discovered this from my parents neighbours who were up there very recently.

This is a fantastic wee gem of a walk. If any of you live in Dundee or nearby Angus and fancy stretching your legs for a hour or walking your dog, this is the place to go to. You will get fantastic views of Dundee, the Tay, the Sidlaws, the Glens, etc.... It's such a gentle small walk and my wife and my mum came along too and both thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had wee Iain in a rucksack, and Fraser who is 4 years old, led the way with his map, and was so funny warning everyone about the "Big Muddy Puddle". The walk started from a carpark at the edge of the forest, and you have two options, walk along the edge of the forest to Carrot Hill, or walk through the forest to the other side. I went with the latter, as I thought Fraser would enjoy the Forest walk more, and boy did he!!! Climbing over trees that been blown over, and jumping through puddles!! Once out of the forest, you can see Carrot Hill with it's Trig Point and Cairn shelter, Up here you get some cracking views of all around. Looking towards South West, you can see Dodd Hill and its hugh Cairn. So I decided we should head for that also, it was a really lovely morning and made the most of it.

All in all, it took us about 1 hour and 30 mins to do this lovely small walk. But that was being led by a 4 year old who kept stopping every 2 second because he saw an animal and want to show you, or was telling you how to avoid the big puddles! It would really only take about a hour max to do this walk. Here are some pictures!

Well done Fraser, now you have to try something a bit longer and higher. He could bag his 1st Munro before long.
Some good pics as well.

Thanks everybody for your messages :)

My plan is to subject Fraser to a few more gentle hills like Craigowl Hill, and do a nice walk up to Corrie Fee. After that, do an easy Munro. Then I'll have to do it all over again with Iain(my youngest son) when he is a bit older. Can't wait!!

Some fantastic photos of one of my favourite places to walk Corrie dog. Thanks for posting

Would also recommend Balkello (aka Baluderon) Hill in the Sidlaws as another easy hill near Dundee - big paths up and down make a fine short circuit with fantastic views :D

And you can't go wrong with Corrie Fee - beautiful!
