Walkhighlands

Good weather. Lochaber Rugby Club walk with JS, SD, CC et al. Dropped at Kinloch Hourn by taxi at 9am, easy walk though a long trek. Diverted up Luinne Bheinn to snaffle my first munro, and then tramped into Inverie for a well earned bucket of beer and great food.The thought of the Inverie Inn kept us going on the long walk in. It is a truly great pub. We had arranged the Mallaig ferry out the next morning in slightly choppy seas and the taxi met us in Mallaig for trip back to Fort William. The walk had it all, including a dodgy Cullen Skink for breakfast in Mallaig, and a psychedelic spray just outside the brand new taxi on the way back!

A novel way to reach the hills!...and another taxi at the far end. It certainly gets around the big problem of a walk of this type where you end up a long way from the start...no regular Post busses here like in swiss-land! I think that you highland folks have a problem holding down the drink.....cullen skink?

Its not exactly a drink - a soup with smoked fish. Not good for a delicate stomach!

I love cullen skink, but the quality varies enormously wherever I try it. From "greasy and boufin' " at Stonehaven - just fish in hot cream, no good at all. To delicious and filling at the wee place in Plockton. Thankye for the warning re Mallaig's cullen skink - or was that more down to your own constitution?
Your taxi fares must have been horrendous ( or is taxi just a metaphor for "girlfriend"?). Does no-one hitch any more ?
