Having neglected our weekly walk over the summer months we decided on Sunday we would venture out again. Having already done Meall Buidhe on a previous excursion we headed back up Glen Lyon to tackle Strucd an Lochain. It was a fine day when we left Perth but the clouds were gathering as we drove up the Glen.

We parked up and followed the road down to the bridge and over Alt Conait.

Staying on the path until we reached a cairn on our left which leads up and away from the dam. The path was very wet and muddy and we were wishing we had took the time to put on our gaiters  After the initial steep climb the path levels out until you pass above the boat house, here it heads south-west and climbs steeply. We took time to admire the view at this point looking back down on the dam. :)

As we climb we pass beautiful lumps of white quartz ( hubby being a jeweller took ages admiring and wishing he had a magic wand to transport the huge piece to centre stage in the shop)

Once up on the first ridge we look back down Glen Lyon.

Further up we reach the cairn at Sron chona choirein and keep following the path over a broad saddle with stunning views on either side. Here we look across to see the road ahead.

After a final short steep push we reach the cairn and top of Struchd an Lochain and shelter from the wind to enjoy a we earned lunch and what a view!!! :D :D :D

We retraced our steps, feeling elated at being back out on the hills. The weather stayed dry and we were back at our car in 3 hours. A good day spent :) :) :)
