a couple of years ago i was asked by my good freind mark if i fancied a couple of munros in killin and to be honest i didnt fancy it at all and had no intention of climbing a hill now or ever!i had just turned 38!
well i went and am so glad i did because on meall a choire leith i caught a bug that was going to change my life for the better! on that first climb everything changed and all i wanted to do was climb and luckily for me a live right next to the glorious ochil hills the ochils became my playground for months and i found myself getting fitter all the time!the hills were makin me feel good! i was 38 by this time and made mysel a wee challenge,a was gonna climb 40 munros by the time i was 40 years old!well im a wee bit proud of myself because on sunday with ma friends greig and linzi a went a wee bit further by climbing my 50th !! greig and i had been out walking many times before and it was really nice to have linzi join us for this round of 5!greig and i had been up lochnagar before but were always looking to walk the whole route! the walk up to lochnagar was good and the weather was fine!lochnagar is an amazing mountain the weather changed for the worse on munros 2 and 3 but only for an hour or so,we were well soaked!but it didnt dampen our spirits !i was pretty excited about reaching 50!to some thats a small amount but am no done yet!i was a wee but touched by the plane crash on carn an t-sagairt mor found the walk from carn an t-sagairt mor to cairn bannoch enjoyable and then onto broad cairn!yes!! we were all feeling good and i was made to look a right fool by giving a wee hand gesture to celebrate this special munro for me it was a great day with some great company!from broad cairn it was a long walk back to the car and we decided to walk down to the side of the loch! was glad to get back to the car and was feelin good about my first big landmark and by the way av still got couple of weeks before a turn 40-something else am looking forward to......NOT!but ye know what a dont feel am getting old,a feel really good and thats all down to the the hills of the ochils and the mountains of scotland!av seen some really amazing places also, places i would never have been if mark hadnt forced me up that first munro a couple of years ago!!i love a good day out on the mountains!thanks!
