I've posted reports on kilpatricks, campsies, luss hills, ochils, all done using public transport- here is a pentland circuit to add to that set.
Caught the mcewans bus (think no.100) from edinburgh bus station, dropped me at flotterstone, took highway over tops to scald law, then over kips to path that crosses logan burn, turned back over hare hill, black hill all the way along to claerketton, down by hillend ski centre for bus back to edinburgh.
I like this walk over pentlands, along one side then back along the other, great views, lots up & down, of course there are many ways you can link walks in pentlands using bus. Weather - windy & fine apart from brief stinging hailstorm - autumn's here, I heard the stags bellowing in the glen last week.

It's a great walk, isn't it? Hard to think of anywhere else in Scotland where you can visit so many summits in a reasonably short distance.

Great walk, done it a few times and always enjoyed it.
Looks like you had the best of the weather, windy but clear.
For small hills it can have its own weather system at times, once coming over Allermuir to Caerketton, with the full monty on in the driving sleet, I crested the hill from the west to see a bunch of tourists coming up the path in an assortment of wooly jumpers, denim jackets, sandals et al. Got to love it.
