Always better to 'get one in' before the real snow starts !! A fine place you chose as well :)
Did you manage to find yourself a new piece of photographic equipment ?

Cheers Soulminer :D I've yet to purchase a little memory snapper to take up into the hills. RTMcB's wizz-pop, wizz-bang new Sony compact was used for this trip. I'm fairly impressed with it but its more than I'd want to spend and I just can't make up my mind what to go for

Guess I'll just have to share RTMcBs for a while longer! Wonder whose patience will falter first?

That's a change from the cosy highland b and b's, SM! It's great to be under the stars and wake up in the mountains, though. There's something special about the Cairngorms.

Lovely photos and a great effort, well done! :D :D :D
I used to stay out in the Cairngorms years ago when I first took hillwalking seriously, you've got me planning more again even sooner than I thought :D :D

Well would be rude not to! :) Maybe bump into you again some time :)

I remember reading and enjoying your report. We thought about staying out for 2 nights but due to over packing and thus tiring ourselves and my boots breaching on the first day we thought making the most of day 2 and heading home was the best move.

We camped near the Allt Clais an t-Sabhail between Cairn Toul and Sgor an Lochain Uaine at 1034 meters. Considered heading towards the Loch an Stuirteag but it was getting dark and the weather was really closing in so we found a reasonable patch and pitched up. Wasn't ideal as we were on a slope and thus there was quiet a bit of sliding over to one side of the tent throughout the night! But the views and swift ascent of the Angels Peak in the morning more than made up for it :D 8)

Haha - I think RTMcB fancies a cosy B&B if we do another full weekend before the year is out. I did miss my celebratory ale just a smidge but like you say, sleeping under the stars and waking up in the hills cast those thoughts aside.

Cheers Bod :D I'm definitely a Cairngorms convert, in the right conditions it is just the most wonderful place to be. I'd never claim to have a favorite area of the highlands though and I'm a strong believer that variety is the spice of life. Yet to visit Torridon though and have my suspicions that area might steal my heart....

350 miles away :( Hope you manage to squeeze in one more trip :D

Cheers Kev! Haven't seen many reports from you lately - hope you're still getting out and up!

Oh my, if I had a dingly-dangly I think it would have burrowed back inside me and refused to come out while we were on Cairn Toul! Wet feet, wind and snow make for the chills!
