NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

I was on the bus and wanting to walk across Rannoch Moor. It was extremely windy and the bus driver said "make sure you have the wind at your back"
I was planning to go from Bridge of Orchy North across the moor, but when I saw the trees nearly bent double by the wind and in my direction, I asked the driver could he drop me near Kingshouse instead. Walking the moor the other way with the wind at my back was very much more pleasant and indeed I was bowled along by the wind. Others coming the other way were having much more difficulty. I really appreciated the bus drivers comments! Steve Critchlow
