This was the first time that Boab had been out with Gerry and it promised to be a great day with all the various weather forecasters saying what great weather there was going to be. We started early and it did start great with these views towards Killin and the mountains behind.

We found the car park after a wee trawl. Boab and Gerry had been previously but the visitors centre has been demolished and the car park now sits on the opposite side.(easily confused) The weather was keeping its side of the bargain and we climb quickly with Ruby leading the way running between myself, Gerry and Boab. I just wish I had her energy and stamina!!

We got to Beinn Ghlas and must admit what a disappointment. After a hard walk you are greeted with a pitiful cairn. I have bigger stones on my garden path but hey that's life. Anyway the mist had come in, the wind had got up and things where starting to get a bit wild.

From Beinn Ghlas you see Ben Lawers and what stands in front of you. Even though it was cold and now wet what an impressive site, with its summit covered in mist. We started the steep climb and seen this figure coming out the mist. It was a guy who had camped overnight on Ben Lawers. He said it was wild up there and he was thinking during the night, “had I done something a bit silly”. Must admit unsure if we felt admiration for his bravery or fear for what could have happened to him. The mist and the fine rain was now well in. These photos show just how hard it was to see any views. At least the cairn was better than Beinn Ghlas.

We took the path down from Ben Lawers and the path that sits below Beinn Ghlas towards Meall Corranaich. On a good day the views here must be stunning as you look up the glen towards Creag an Fhithich. The climb up Meall Corranaich is steep but quick and only takes an extra 30 minutes. Again the mist was there spoiling the views as this picture shows of a small plateau shows.

I could only think of the views along Coire Odhar. On a good day this must be a cracking Munro to climb and it is so close to Ben Lawers. Anyway the walk down was great and Ruby and Boab soon spotted a herd of deer running along the Coire and as quick as a flash out of sight.

It was just one of those days. As we neared the car park the mist lifted and the sun shone. Just bad timing, as we looked back and seen the walk we had just completed with no mist and probably some great views. But the following Tuesday Gerry and I did The Devils Point or should I say pleasure. This was a cracking but hard day, the weather and views are great. Put the set on flickr at http://flic.kr/s/aHsjCs1QUF, well worth a look. Also put the blog on walkhighlands http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26108. :D
