An Dun

Another from earlier this year.

Less of a walk report this, more of a report on a very pleasant cycle up a remote glen with a wee hill halfway to keep things interesting . An Dun is certainly one of those hills that rewards the walker who also enjoys a bit of biking. A decent landrover track takes you from a convenient parking spot by the A9 right to the foot of An Dun, and without any serious hills or climbs to make the cycle to stressfull (Yes - I am talking about you Ben Dronaig !)

Apart from one puncture en route we made good time. There appears to have been a bit of a flood last winter as a bit of the track is washed out near the shooting lodge (which appears abandoned) so there was some pushing of the bikes.

My cycling buddy decided he wouldn't climb the hill so I pushed myself and was at the top in about 35 minutes . There's some bog to cross but once on the slopes of the hill, although steep, there's nothing too bothersome. Great views towards the Cairgorms as you would expect. The descent was straightforward and the cycle back so much more enjoyable than a three hour plod back to the car.
