Walkhighlands

I started this walk from Cashel Farm , owned by the Royal Scottish Forestry Society , there is a good car park and the £2 parking fee goes to a worthy cause . The first part of my walk followed the green waymarkers up through the trees on a good track , plenty of birdlife around on this lovely crisp autumn morning.
The track is good and before long I was at Queens View admiring the scenery.
From here I took the track branching left and headed north , climbing the high red gate just visible in this photo (NS 414948)
After 800m and a right turn I reached the end of the forestry , a gap in the deer fence allows access to the open hill . From here the way to Binnean nan Gobhar is very rough , a mix of deep bog and long heather , something I would see plenty of today
After much huffing and puffing I eventually reached the lower south summit with lovely views over Loch Lomond.
From here a short walk brings you to the higher north summit at 586m .
Nice views from here looking east to the Trossachs .
The traverse to the second hill of the day looked none too promising , more bog and deep heather ,but faint deer and ATV tracks would help me on my way.
After a long slog down to the 433m bealach and up onto the lower slopes of Beinn Uird the ground improved , before too long I was wandering around the grassy plateau looking for the cairn .
An interesting view of Ben Lomond from here...
And the Crianlarich Munros lined up waiting to be named...
From the summit I headed SW to pick up the fence which would lead me to the corner of the forestry above Sallochy . Nice views of the Luss and Glen Douglas Grahams on the descent ...
After a bit of thrashing around in the recently felled forestry I eventually picked up the forest road which zig-zags downhill to Sallochy .
A short wander south along the road and WHW brought me back to Cashel Farm where I stopped for a chat with one of the locals
A nice circuit with good tracks to start and finish, pretty rough stuff inbetween , worth it for the views though

Nice report with some great photos . These Sub-2000 Marilyns can be very more-ish: I was just up Conic Hill this morning (never done it before, strangely enough) and it was a grand wee walk, although a bit like Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday morning at the top. Probably the rare good weather... These two that you did are practically on the doorstep for Weegies like me, and I've looked at them before ... I will definitely try to do them sometime now after reading your report; it looks a grand shorter day out

Yes , lovely wee hills and very handy for shorter winter days . I saw your Conic hill report , lovely views along the faultline , a busy little hill !

Nice one, been thinking about doing these this winter. I'd even had half a thought of doing them today but a long lie won the vote

RTC , I can see how confusing it could be in mist with the three summits spread around the craggy tops , at least you had an excuse to go back up and enjoy the lovely views

VERY boggy after clearing forest / Cashel hydro track with awkward clumpy grass below Beinn Bhreac and Binnein nan Gobhar and between latter and Beinn Uird and awkward route across harvested forest to pick up Sallochy forest track with blue marked path shortcutting second zigzag on return route. 6.5 hours.
