Turning off the A712 below the Clatteringshaws dam, I took the single track road that is cycle route 7 down to Craigencallie house. The old outward bound school, is now a renovation project and I wish them the very best of luck.
Parking next to a frost covered motor I noticed a flyer on the screen stating a wee dog called Gordon had been lost the day before, on the crag above, giving a contact number if he was found.
Fighting my way up through the wet bracken and tussocky grass, I finally gain enough height to where the going became easier.
The day was cold but bright yet as I reached the summit of Millfore a snell SE wind caused me to shelter behind the stones. Clouds coming in from the sea were beginning to obscure the good views I`d had over the lochs and forestry so I headed for Curlywee passing the White / Black lochans and up to the craggy point that is its top, some 18mtr higher than MIllfore
With rain threatening I cut short my intention to visit Lamachan descending to the old drove road passed White laggan bothy to gain route CR7 and the SUW and the walk back to the car.
En route I had seen various birds of prey - black grouse - annoyed mountain hares (still brown) but the best was when I reached the car park - The dog I had whistled and called for all over my route had been found on the crag by his owners who were returning to their car.
Introduced to Gordon the Border Terrier I was told he does not bark looks like a tuft of grass and was none the worse for his ordeal - a brilliant end to my day
