Waking up in a pleasant bunkhouse I made an early start to get into the Fannichs. I had planned to do the three in the Sgurr Mor ridge but this didn't really pan out. The parking at the turn in the Braemore road was the parking place and it was here that I made my way toward the mountains. The boathouse is under renovation so a detour through the forest to the bridge was recommended and taken.

From here the path was decent and I was sad to leave it but the guidebook said so! I couldn't see anyone behind me as I made my way up the steep pathless slopes and it seemed to take forever to be honest! The wind was picking up too despite a forecast to the contrary. At the top I knew that the day would have to be cut short. The ridge up ahead was thin and the wind had picked up to almost gale like force! So strong it blew the spit out of my mouth!! Bluergh!!!! I headed South to pick up the river running West where I could get back down to the track.

I did so and found my way there no problem but was a little disappointed I had only managed one when I'd set out to bag three. Nevermind, another time. Made it back to the car where I chatted to a lady from Dunfermline and took a drive towards An Teallach to get a better view. From there I headed home via Aviemore. A shorter day than I'd imagined but at least I'd made some headway into the Northern mountains.
