Loch Treig trek

December is upon us and that usually means deep snaw and cold stinging winds and red raw faces  and that was what we got today.Been saving these two for the winter so it was me Diane,Kev and Charlie who set off early to Fersit, drive up was ok until the single track road to the start of the walk, bit slippy and icy this likes but Diane got us there safe and sound and we were on the go for about 0845.
The attachment Chno Dearg and Stob Coire Sgriodian 002.JPG is no longer available
Up the track past the houses where we were yelped at by a few dugs :( and across the bridge and then over the rough ground toward Sron Na Garbh bhienne, glad this was mostly frozen over as this would probably be a bog fest otherwise :?

Charlie retains his burn jumping title
No footprints to follow in the fresh snow so more or less headed straight up Sron na Garbh bhienne, this was no as easy as we thought ,pretty steep at times but found a route up and i sat on top for about 4 hours waiting on Kev,Diane and Chas  .

Brilliant views from here over to Beinn a Chlachair ,Beinn a Chaorainn and Loch Laggan, bit cloudy over to the Corries and Nevis though so never seen them all day,the way forward to Sgriodain was clear from here and we got to the top of the first munro in about three 'oors.

Got some pics here of the great views over to Glencoe and the bookle etc. again the way to our next stop Chno Dearg was clear so off we went finding a spot around the 958m point to huddle in behind some rocks for another tea break.

and zoomed a bit
From here the climb up to Chno Dearg looked dead easy but seeing as muggin's here had been breaking the trail all the way up i was starting to feel a bit puggled to say the least.

Diane and Charlie valiantly took over the snow plough duties but i think they managed about 20 paces between them before ah had to step in again and break trail to Chno Dearg,s big summit cairn   Could have lay here and slept for a week but seeing as it was ****** freezing that might no have been the best idea

a happy team at the top of Chno
Still after another cuppa it was all down hill now, straight into the wind as well ,faces stinging we made our way down ,Charlie had first go at falling into a snow covered hole,Diane went into a snow covered stream then i duly followed losing one leg into a deep snow hole

descent
Eventually though we picked up a path and it was fairly good going for the last few km's,soon back down to the houses at Fersit where we were barked at and chased by more dugs who had been joined by some chickens  Back at the cars in 6 and 3 quarter hours which we thought was no bad going, most knackered i've been on the hills for a while though,it's a totally different game trudging through fresh deep snow and the half gallon of Tennent's in the Bothy bar in Blair Atholl went down a treat  Another fine day in good company again ,seen only one person all day,a guy who almost caught us heading up Chno Dearg ,looked like he had come over from Corrour station so fair play to him ,looked like a big walk for the winter.More of the same weather on the next one please!

I back Diane up, but i counted way more than 35 steps, Dave must have missed them when he was laying about in the snow catching some rays (photos to follow  )

Even I broke trail twice, both of them down hill. You try your best but just get pushed out the way by 'He Man'.
Four hour wait at the top, only because we opened the bar and had a roast chicken dinner just below the crest - yum.

Looks like you guys had great fun and some great pics! Looks great in the snow. I got sucked into a bog on Chno Dearg - they are well disguised, especially in that snow! :D

Great day for it pigeon and you do some excellent views down Loch Treig  deep, soft snow can be hard going until it consolidates and ices over but with days like these who's complaining - cheers :)
