Thank you for the comments. I read your report from Sgorr Dhonuill and Sgorr Dhearg. It's on my to do list. But I think I will save those two munros for a clear summer day.
It looked like you would need Ice-axe and crampons there. How bad is that bad step there in between the two munros?
I also read about winter equipment under the skills and safety tab here. I feel like the snowshovel is missing from that list. It certainly can help you out in bad winterweather.
Hi Jon, the wee scramble we had to do wasn't bad really. I'm just not great with the idea of falling
There were good footholds and we managed to get good grips with our ice-axes. We didn't need crampons that day as the snow was really soft, but as the slopes are quite steep we thought we'd use ice-axes in case we slipped and needed to self-arrest. We climbed Sgor na h-Udlaidh a couple of days later and needed ice-axe and crampons there, and I found the scramble much harder, in fact I ended up coming down the snowy slope backwards, front-pointing with my crampons! I was very pleased to be back at the col!! I've still to write a couple more reports from that week as we did 6 munros and were really lucky to have pretty good weather all week. I don't have a snow shovel but it may have to go on the Christmas list
