Started at the ranger station at 8am . The last time I was in these hills I was in a green suit training recruits.
Picked up the sign for Scald Law over the burn then follow the well trodden path no problems up onto Turnhouse then the wind hit .After our trip up Ben Avon not so long ago piece of cake .Carnethy next on the list Stopped in one of the wind shelters for the first soup break next target Scald Hill.
Up till then seen no one but being that close to Edinburgh it was about to be as busy as Ben Lomond Hill runners and walkers called Rab onwards and upwards stay a head its great most of these wee hills have proper cairnsonce we got onto Scald decision time head back or the kips .Kips it was 20 min later another decision Black Hill we come and a wee burst of Doris Day mutch to the dogs displeasure this aint no Dakota . Then took a beeline down to Green Cleugh then took the steady climb up to Black Hill From then onit was pick up the white Cleuch burn up to the path which takes you down to Logan cottage and follow the road around the resevoir back to Flotterson Was thinking about going up Castlelaw but the squadies were on the ranges remembering how I used to shoot thought it would be wiser when the flags werent flying . A quick pint in the Inn enough to make a Fifer die of a heart attack and Pidg thought the Drovers was dear . A good easy day out I hope when I meet up with the gang next week they take it easy no such luck.
