I climbed Ben Nevis as part of a group of 100 people raising funds for Kidney Research UK, therefore it was the pony track route for safety reasons. Anyway it was a cold morning & some exercises in the car park helped get the blood pumping before we set off over the bridge with the sound of the bagpipes ringing in our ears & inspiring us for the climb ahead.
I headed off @ the front of the group, hoping to be up & down as soon as possible & back in the hotel enjoying the sauna & pool facillities of The Ben Nevis Hotel, not to mention a few cold beers before our evening meal. That idea soon went out the window as we were made to stop constantly to let the rear of the group catch up [ extremely annoying].Anyway pitstop @ the Lochan halfway up for some lunch in the sunshine before setting off again & eventually making our way to the summit, the views @ the top were amazing, apparently we could see as far as Mull [80 miles away] & to top it off we were treated to some live music as a band who were raising funds for Parkinsons had managed to carry up their gear amps & all [ wondered what the hell they were up to].
Anyway 3 songs later, a few pix & some celebratory champagne & then off the Ben as quickly as possible,
which i managed to do in record time! amazing what you can do when you know what delights await you @ the hotel  .
