Carn Mairg group
Posted: Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:56 pmWe set out from the small carpark @ Invervar,crossed the road & went through a metal gate leading to the path up through the forest & to the foot of the hills,it was a damp & misty morning as we turned left & headed W up along the burn before crossing & heading N towards Carn Gorms summit also taking in the two false summits [my pet hate 
] anyway great views of the Lawers group from here, before we headed NNE along the broad ridge to An Sgor [top] which we added to our day before reaching the cairn @ Meall Garbh, from here you follow a line of fence posts leading past a wee lochan & onto a wide bealach before the slopes start to climb to Meall a' Bharr before heading E & then SE to Carn Mairg, it was here we decided to have some lunch & take a few pix, it was brighter now but still very windy, i managed to get a good pix of Schiehallion in the sunshine. Break over, we headed E along the ridge to Meall Liath [top] then S onto a wide ridge around the head of Gleann Muillin & up onto the rocky Meall nan Aighean with its lovely views out over Loch Rannoch, it was extremely windy here therefore we didnt hang around too long before heading W down to the grassy ridge on the S side of the Allt Coire Chearcaill & followed the ridge back along & down onto the path above Invervar & back through the forest to the carpark, all in all a good day with some decent views
