Walkhighlands

A hill I have been dreading for a few weeks now, ever since reading Graeme D's report has been Crock, with a nightmare route through thick pine trees, and more recently a report by Gordie12 which highlights other things to lookout for, the Psycho Beast from Hell, a mad pheasant which is desperate to peck your legs and other bits of your body. I was ready to get started for my walk by 1015hrs, I met a couple from Arbroath at the carpark about to climb Badandun Hill, so if your reading this report Hi again.

Car parked at Freuchies car park, there is a signpost with Glen Prosen 7miles Clova by Kilbo path 12 miles, take this track. Large carpark plenty of room for many cars

There has been a lot of tree felling recently and the track is somewhat messy, but fine for walking quite quickly

Lovely and calm Loch Shandra where the Cateran trail passes by on the other side

The way ahead, nae bother so far, easy stuff, making good progress heading towards Tulloch

Time for me to go up there I think. Later on 'I think Iv'e done a Graeme D, oooops, what the hell go for it!

That was a bit nasty, but wait look what Iv'e found, this could work out ok. Let's go along here for a bit and see what happens

Yes, glad I turned left back there, this is ok. Let's start climbing again

Yes the summit cairn looking over Hare Hill where I was on Thursday

Mayar and Dreish from the summit cairn. Heather on top not too deep, ok for walking and fairly dry

I guess there were trees up on the summit as well, some time ago. Mount Blair in background

Now I remember lining through my entry point to the summit from the trees with Mount Blair, now I can't find it, guess it's a crawl thro' here then

At last I came to the track running along the West side of the hill. Go down hill from here, no bother and looking good

I cannot believe my luck, it's brought me to here, right take a route down beside the trees on the right

God what's this I'm in now, not good. I can now see the track but cannot get to it, nightmare!

That's dedication to the cause - I'm impressed! The tourist trail was mapped out for you but you went for the GraemeD approach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crock and Turin Hill in the one day???? It's like a chapter from the Masochists Guide to the hills of Angus! :lol:

Nice to see all that foliage again.

You, Gordie and I should arrange a wee reunion on this one! :lol:

I think both you and I need time to recover before any reunion, good idea though, sometime!

Some of the wee hills seem to be the hardest to climb! Well done on getting up (and back down!) this one. Looks like a very serene walk in past the loch. Also nice that you were alone on the hill. We were going to climb Morven yesterday but when we arrived there were so many cars that there was no-where to park so we abandoned it and went for lunch at the Finzean Farm Tea Room followed by a walk up Glen Esk instead.

hills, I know what you mean. Bit of a sting in the tail

When and if you do it, remember where you came out of the woods going up to the summit. I thought I had it sussed but when I saw a white tape on the tree, but when I returned there were lots of trees with white tape :lol:

Your right there, there's nothing worse, than a hill covered with people especially not hill people

, if you know what I mean, God that makes me sound so snobby. You did the right thing, never been to the Finzean tea room before, can you recommend?, and to finish off with a walk up Glen Esk, brilliant

I had thought about going up here over christmas but never got around to it. It seems very popular just now - I might wait until the NTS adopt it and build a path up :lol:

Aye, better up the tourist trail, anyway that will make Gordie feel better :lol:
