First Walk Report - Perfect Day on the Hills

After a disappointing trip up Beinn Ime on Sunday I was dying to get back on the hills again. So I checked MWIS and saw that the forecast for Tuesday seemed pretty decent, so I put in a holiday at work and off I went.
I decided to go for Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers after eying them up whilst walking Meall nan Tarmachan a couple of weeks ago...

After wheel-spinning most of the way up the ice covered road, I eventually reached the Ben Lawers car park at about 08:00.
First glimpse of Beinn Ghlas did not look so good but the clouds cleared as time went on.

Finally reached Beinn Ghlas summit with a cracking view of Ben Lawers.

Summit Shot.

I didnt hang around for very long on the summit as it was freezing, just took a few shots and off i went towards Ben Lawers.

That "amazing" view I had of Ben Lawers didnt last for very long, i got half way up an couldnt see a thing
As I approached Lawers summit I had a quick look at my GPS only to notice it said 'Low Battery' Not so good.
So just took a couple of shots and headed back down and over Beinn Ghlas again.

Once I got back to the car I looked back up and there wasnt a cloud in the sky. Typical.

Had a great day. Looking Forward to my next trip.... wherever that may be.

Some brilliant photographs there :D . GPS eats batteries, best turn off and on, that's what I do when just needing my position on the hill :)

Your pictures are excellent!

Did you take a tripod with you for the self portraits or was there someone else with you?

Thanks mate. I use my walking pole that I have screwed a bolt into the top. I just stab the pole into the ground and attach the camera. Only the two photos of me were taken with the digital camera. The rest were taken with my iPhone

Brilliant photo's Grenfell! VERY jealous the summit pic looks awsome and the snow superb!

Great idea re the camera and results are brilliant.

Glad you got to hit the both after seeing them the other week. And well done for finsing the car park, unlike me the other week...

Mate, that looks amazing
Ghlas/Lawers tends to be some of the first munros that folk do and in the summer, so its unusual to see such fantastic winter shots from there. Truly stunning scenery, love the one of the ice axe in the shadow of the sun 8)

Haha I made sure I was paying attention so I didn't pass it. I had to park just outside the car park, if I had went in I don't think I would have got back out because of the snow.
