2mm of snow...oh no turn back ya mad corbett bagger

Dooterbang picked me up at 730am. Think my cars on the way out with all the driving ive been doing over the years  It started to snow as we reached Callendar. As we turned into the South Lochearnhead road there was a wee landing of snow on the road.

Dooterbang wanted to stop and head somewhere else… but I was keen to continue as the road didn’t look too bad…I was being cursed and called a mad corbett bagger ..

Parked at Ardvorlich and headed south up the private road and over a stile where the path turns into a track.

The plan was to follow the burn up through Glen Vorlich first tackling the corbett Meall na Fearna and depending on the weather head northwest towards Beinn Domhnuill and then west to pick up the track again back to Ardvorlich.

However the weather wasn’t the best and the track was covered in snow that we ending up taking the wrong path. I pulled the GPS out to check our location once we realised we were on the wrong path to where we intended.

Beinn Domhuill

We noticed we were heading for Beinn Domhnuill. Therefore we continued to Beinn Domhnuill and when we reached the top the weather changed. We encountered hailstones, strong winds and extremely poor visibility. We put on our googles.....and then took some shelter and rechecked the GPS for a grid reference. We used this with the map and compass and headed towards Meall na Fearna.

We passed below the summit of the corbett too far south in the poor conditions and had to head back north once we realised our mistake.

Once at the summit we took a quick summit pic.

Took a bearing and headed west and down towards the track which had an initially steep incline towards the bealach between Ben Vorlich and Meall na Fearna. We continued and on the track back to Glen Vorlich and reached the car in 5 hours 30 minutes.

I found this corbett quite a difficult one in poor weather conditions. Not bad going time wise in bad conditions and after struggling to find the summit.

I remember you bricking it when driving along this 2mm of snow

You also forgot to mention me sliding down the southern face and banging my shin up then 15 minutes later to find myself thigh deep in water...and finally slipping on ice and falling on my backside!!

Good day out though and tough in those conditions.

Tricky wee top to find but the mad corbett bagger got it :D

Oh and i think you'll find that this is the real DB pose....

Nice one Theresa

Always better to let someone else do the driving especially if there's a chance of a wee bump to the car

Can't believe you haven't found your signature pose, its not like you've been short of summits to practice on

Cheers hills. It was tough but meant to be very boggy in the summer... so might be better in the snow :)

Well done on finding the top mountain thyme, it's good to no you did listen to some of the stuff I warbled on about. I hove your house never got burgled while you were away, seeing someone told the world you were off, and as for signature pose? Your either knackered or holding your hand up with the number of summits done that day, which will be mostly 1, seeing as your getting on a bit
