Good way to spend a cracking couple of days of good weather. I'm sure it was a weekend where I found something to stop me getting out to enjoy some snow.

Nigel, take a look Ghaordaidh from the north from Glen Lyon. Shorter, steeper and from what I read about the more commonly tread route more enjoyable.

Great report indeed!! I missed this one the first time around, shame on me! I'm not sure zipping up the tent is all that much defense against beasts (well, sheep) with pointy horns, though ;-)

Well done! Great stuff. You need strong legs for these two – Ben More and Stob Binnein, damn steep and you keep thinking you're there but you're not, at least I wasn't!!

We're talking 50+ years ago, I was working in London. Had a long weekend so thought I would return to the hills for a wee climb. Took the o'night train to Edinburgh, then on to Crianlarich. Stayed at the Youth Hostel (is there still one there?).

Set out the next day to do Ben More and Stob Binnein ... well, could not believe how steep Ben More is! Nearly vertical!! My legs were feeling it badly by the time I got to the top – out of condition. But wonderful scenery.

Then I slithered down to the bealach – what a wonderful place – airy, beautiful slopes in all directions. But I was humbled – my legs could do no more, so I slunk downhill and back to the youth hostel, could do no more. Missed out on Stob Binnein, or anything else for that matter.

The it was back to Edinburgh then London. But the experience was worth it! I just loved it at that bealach, what a great place.

Thanks for bringing all this back!
