I picked this hill for my wife as she had stipulated something not too high and with a good path for our trip to Skye. I had no idea what lay in store but had read promising descriptions. Really, for both of us it turned out to be a fantastic walk.
It is easy to find a parking space at Tianavaig Bay and the walk starts off from there by crossing a pleasant stream and following a signposted path up past a couple of houses at the edge of Camastianavaig village. The hillside itself is mostly short grass so easy walking and with a choice early on of following the main path or heading off directly for the summit. I'd recommend the former as this route follows the coastline and reveals more and more impressive views along the way. Tianavaig is more or less a sea cliff on its east side and a gentle slope on the west. Views north and south along the Sound of Rassay are excellent with the Cuillin clearly in view to the south and the tapering ridge of Tianavaig ahead to the north.

The going underfoot is excellent -really like walking on a carpet. I guess someone in a hurry to get to the top would be there in an hour but with such lovely surroundings we didn't feel in any hurry.
After a couple of kilometres of cliff hugging path with dramatic views down to the sea the ridge becomes narrower, leading to the first of two small summits separated by a shallow dip.

This mini summit ridge feels as grand as any other coastal hill summit and my wife has since declared Tianavaig to be her favourite hill in the west. The top is certainly a sublime spot and it was a real pleasure to stroll along on the short grass with drmatic views to the sea below.

We spent and hour or so on the summit ridge before taking a more direct route back to the car.
