Rule 1 paragraph A of the Linlithgow,Bo'ness ,Alloa,Rosyth,Helensburgh and Broxburn hillwalking club(rolls easily off the tongue don't it
) states that "No member shall drive for hunners o miles to attempt a 20 mile hike when he or she knows that the weather is more than likely going to be shite",so being fully conversant with the rules Gavin made the call to cancel our proposed trip to Blair Atholl to walk Beinn Dearg and the nearby Corbett for something a little closer to home and a bit easier on the legs.Creagan na Beinne on the south of Loch Tay was his choice and with the forecast for a bright start with wind and snow to come in later myself and Ian were happy to go along with this plan.Turned out a good shout too, fairly decent conditions up to the Corbett, path mostly frozen so it made for good going, still some views when we reached the top ,bit chilly mind so no hingin' aboot we set off down Dunan hill and then toward the bothy ,cottage, lodge whatever you want to call it for a nice wee break .
- up the good path to Creagan na Beinne
- the bold Jake
- head for that fence up yonder
- An Stuc,Meall Garbh and Meall Greigh
- Ian nears the top
- some of the Linlithgow,Bo'ness,Aloa ,Rosyth,Helensburgh and Broxburn hillwalking club at the Corbett summit
- a glimpse of Loch Tay
- looking down to the Shee of Ardtalnaig
- Gav looks towards a cloudy Ben Chonzie
Ian was hit with the news here that we would be talking in the Graham-Shee of Ardtalnaig,he wiz ragin'
Only kiddin',it would seem daft not to climb the extra 300 metres or so from here so off we went up towards it's summit Ciste Buide a' Claidheimn.
- the Broon's but n ben was closed for the winter
- the Shee to the left
On the way up the snow got a bit heavier so the forecast looked to be right,a quick couple of summit shots before heading off across the flat peat hagged terrain.
- Ciste Buide a Cladheimn
- the Fifer who came in from the cold
- team photie on the Shee
Thankfully the bogs were frozen over, can imagine this place being a mud fest in the summer, also came across quite a deep fissure/cleft bit ,so take care if you're ever up there ,not something you'd like to stumble into in a white out
- fissure/cleft type thing
- frozen bogs(thankfully)
Once we were near the 682m spot on the map it was just a case of dropping down to the good path then heading back to Claggan, then along the road to complete the circuit.A good shout by Gav,still got a wee bit wet but glad we never stuck with plan A to go all the way up to Atholl and even more soaked
- Claggan farm ,snow a bit heavier now
