Left the parking layby about 8.15, a lorry had got stuck under the railway bridge when I arrived but managed to get free just as I left. Took the bike for this one as there was a long walk in
Over the road & through a gate onto the landrover track, there's a steep uphill climb then descent on the right side of the burn. Got easier once over the bridge and on to the left bank. Gulvain soon comes into view, the hills I'd passed in Crianlarich, Glen coe etc were covered head to toe in snow, much less on this one:
Ditched bike at the walled field:
Then branched right at the cairn:
And up the steep grassy hill, eventually got to snowy bit:
Weather looking good so far, looking west to Srugg Thuilm:
Back down the glen:
East:
After relentless uphill slog, got to the shoulder at 855m. Both peaks now in view:
Lovely cylindrical trig point at top1:
Then onwards:
Ridge gets narrow:
Looking back, snow deep in places:
Summit, weather turning cloudy now:
So didn't hang about, back on the ridge:
Snow coming down now, same view from trig point on south top:
Over towards Sgurr Thuilm again, the return is on the same route but at least the weather's giving some variety.
East:
And back down to the glen, only fell over once on the steep descent which must be some kind of record for me:
Back to bike, more downhill bits on the cycle back which was nice. Some flurries of snow on the drive back but the sun was out & all the hills down to Loch Lomond looking great
