That's certainly the kind of trip that will last long in the memory banks. Thanks for posting and all the best for your next epic.

WM that is truly an aspirational epic ! Well done both of you, looked amazing! Daunting still to me but great report to help me understand what's involved on a multi day.

SUPERB!

Thanks, Klaasloopt.
When I joined this site back last autumn, I read some of your posts and thought you were one crazy guy for doing long multi-day treks. :) At that time I could never have imagined wanting to do that, let alone doing a (short by your standards) one myself. But I can't think when I last enjoyed 4 days so much. I've got 9 days to spend in Sutherland at the beginning of June and am thinking of making at least some of that time multidayer trips rather than coming back to tent & car every night. The first time I try it out in the rain and mist for days on end (which - let's face it is the default position for Scottish weather) will be a better test of my mettle than the blissful sunshine around Ben Alder last weekend

Brilliant report! I've made two attempts at multi-day trips to the Ben Alder hills now, and been defeated by the weather both times. I'm so jealous

I've been a WH member since 2009 . . . this has to be one of the top 5 best reports I've read on here. I really don't need to say anything else, other than I'm extremely jealous and thanks so much for sharing this account and your amazing images!

Oh my oh my oh my! A trip like this into Benalder Forest is one of my long term ambitions and I have several possible route plans with hours of scheming! And you go straight for it! Fantastic.

What a great adventure! It could have been so different had the weather not been so kind. But, nonetheless, that trip will provide life long memories for you. The brilliant photos will help too. Many years ago I did a March trip around the same circuit in two days, staying at Culra bothy. Never got so soaked before or since as on the second day!
