Ben Lomand

Having climbed and thoroughly enjoyed Ben Nevis last year for charity, I found that I had caught the bug and have decided that I needed to start bagging more of the amazing hills Scotland has to offer. After reading the reports on WH Ben Lomond appeared to be a good place to continue and with the weather providing some excellent conditions for an inexperienced climber I made the drive up to Rowardennan.
Parked up in the pay and display car park (£3 for the day) and followed the trail behind the information hut.
The path was easy to follow and fairly steep to begin with, the views of loch Lomond behind just got better and better as I got higher
The wind was very cold and icy coming in from the east so hat, scarf and warm jacket was shoved on
I continued up the ridge following the zig zag path, the snow on the ground started to increase but was nothing major.
I finally made it to the top of the ridge with a few nervous scrambles and shuffles along the narrow snow covered path, the wind blowing strongly behind me before I reached the summit.
After taking in the views and snapping a few pics I followed the same path back down to the car, I would have taken the Ptarmigan ridge route, however the gusty wind didn't fill me with confidence, so maybe another time.
2 down 280 to go just need to decide what one to bag next
