After a fantastic weekend attending the Torridon Meet climbing Beinn Liath Mhor and Sgorr Ruadh (see Mountainlove's report on her 100th), followed by Beinn Alligin (see Nathan79's report), we were off down for a special treat staying once again at the Kintail Lodge Hotel. First in our sights was a return to Beinn Sgritheall now one of my favourite mountains, this being my second walk report dealing with this beast...
 :D :D

Up, up and up, pretty much what Beinn Sgritheall is about :)
DSCN2030.JPG
Looking out over Loch Hourn to the Sound of Sleat.
DSCN2036.JPG
Bealach Arnisdail with another fun looking Corbett on the right....we're going left here.
DSCN2042.JPG
Some funky rocks! Knoydart in the background :)
Been watching this mountain since 1984....camped across in Barrisdale Bay on a school trip climbing the Knoydart Hills. Got blown off in 2011 and we never reached the summit then :(
DSCN2058.JPG
An Icy gully with a fresh snow covering, didn't cross as pretty dodgy and headed straight up :)
DSCN2059.JPG
Very steep and a long way back down so kept on the left..... time for sticks away and axes out :)
DSCN2068.JPG
Notice Valerie is clinging on here, bare hands on the damp cold icy rock. This was necessary at points over the top slopes here, with axes ready as a backup. Gey slippy but sorted and fun :). Not sure Valerie agreed :)
DSCN2076.JPG
Great :)
DSCN2083.JPG
Levelling out now and back on two feet again, the two of us that is. Ritchie of course was sorted all the way up with his natural set of crampons :)
DSCN2087.JPG
Beinn Sgritheal, at least we can see her this time, and a grand view at that :)
DSCN2094.JPG
Arnisdale below on the shores of Loch Hourn.
DSCN2103.JPG
A nice wee snowy ridge :)
DSCN2116.JPG
My goodness! What has happened to this summit, lightning perhaps?
DSCN2120.JPG
Stunning views on the descent route :)
DSCN2121.JPG
A little more terror ..... hheehe :)
DSCN2123.JPG
Arnisdale and Loch Hourn again. Barrisdale Bay there at the furthest shores:)
DSCN2142.JPG
Loch na Lochain with dozens of deer around :)
DSCN2145.JPG
The Point of Sleat with the Isle of Rum behind :)
DSCN2150.JPG
Time to head back down to sea level...
DSCN2165.JPG
The jungle descent through Coille Mhialairigh, beautiful native woodland. Had to just stop here and pause for a moment. Lots of holly and birch on this mountainside, just lovely :)
DSCN2181.JPG
Caolas Eilean Rarsaidh...
DSCN2185.JPG
Back along the tarmac road to Arnisdale...
DSCN2188.JPG
Loch Hourn with Knoydart on the opposite shores :) :) :)
DSCN2191.JPG
My favourite Highland Hotel :)

A walkhighland mini-meet just on Beinn Sgitheall     I'd be up for that, as this must be one of the best hills there is.....even with all that steepness.

Great to see that you all made it to the top this time Bod. That interesting snowy ridge brought back nervous memories for me, as the snow was very soft when I was up there and I had ever such a slight fear it might collapse when I crossed. Luckily it didn't :D so I survivied to enjoy the woodland jungle on the descent route

Steep and painful it may be, but well worth the effort
Funny how quickly snow conditions can change in spring - when we did BS in March, there was no snow left, apart from one melting patch just below the summit.
Good to see this mountain again, and now I want to re-visit
