Due to a cancelled Friday night out and what looked like an amazing Saturday Mrs mac and In decided to get the tent and great together and try our first wild camp.
Speaking to a mate in work Glen Kinglas looked like a lovely area with greta hills and a simple walk in so we opted for Stob Ghabhar and Stob a Choire Odhair with a night in the tent in the wild .. Well that was the plan
Ok keeping it brief (like our camping experience)..
We headed out late , enjoying that fact as we were there for a couple of days, late sunsets and no long walk out/drive home we were in no rush. Stopped en route at the wee cafe at Invurglas for a sarnie and a photo

Next we headed up to Bridge of Orchy and turned towards the track up to the Inveroran hotel. Passed a few WHW'ers (one of which shouted "get out and walk" at us - bit harsh I thought , give us a chance love!
).
Weather was amazing , found pretty much the last parking spot , humped my massive, groaning pack on and headed along Abhairn Shira.
Within the first 5 mins walking along the river we were all smiles just loving the view and remembering as we do every time just how truly amazing our countryside is! Ahhh Heaven!
Headed up the track and along the way spotted the first of MANY deer we were to see along the way.

Not long to the wee green hut and took a turn North along Allt Taoig with the two mountains in full view left and right.. and a cracking view behind us (including Mrs Mac of course)

Sam was keen not to carry the pack too far and find a pitch soon we came off the track (now 3pm) to pitch.. after tramping about to find somewhere not too lumpy, wet or with sheep "evidence" we found a patch and up went the tent (its first outing!).
With just day gear now in one pack and it being we headed on for Stob a Choire Odhair deciding to take in Stob Ghabhar the next day .Following the track up loving the views all around, Stob Ghabhar looking stunning on the left and basically not paying attention we realised we had missed the turning and had come too far.. looking up we thought - yeah we can do that
Long , steep, heathery haul, including a spell getting in to a wee gully that became like a slabby trap we made the next 300m in - well - not great time.. Thoroughly knackered we headed for the last couple of hundred metres to the summit

Honestly its just up here Sam...
Reward worth waiting for ! As you reach the summit the whole world (well Rannoch Moor) opens up before you! In fact we stumbled across a walker who was enjoying a wee nap at the summit! Can't help thinking it would have been a perfect view to wake up to!

Getting colder and windy now (around 8pm) so we headed down, this time by the path we had missed on the ascent! On the way we spotted the path cairn no doubt we had missed on the way up

Anyway , made our way down, meeting more deer as we go until we reached "home" , water collected on way, stove out, meal and coffee for two .
Great day, great weather and a great hill. We didn't get to Stob Ghabhar but we will be back for a few more in this area, might stay at Glen Orchy and enjoy a beer or two after time on the hills .
On the way out yet again deer everywhere!
