Route description: Mount Keen from Glen Esk

Munros included on this walk: Mount Keen

Date walked: 01/06/2013

Time taken: 5 hours

Distance: 13 km

Ascent: 810m

Superb day for a walk on a Saturday morning with the dog. Set off at 7.00am. Weather was dry & sunny with light breeze with a round trip time of 5hrs.

Well signposted for the route to Queen's Well & Mount Keen

Following the path further up, take the left split of the track (signposted) and crack on

While heading along i passed a few Guinea Fowl )

Continue up the path over some well defined slightly rocky path when eventually the track flattens out

heading along the path to the next treeline until you come to an electric fence.

Pass though the gate, it's not electrified )

the couple of running streams are not too bad when dry and can be easily crossed

long is the way and hard. this 3 mile section would be better served on a pushbike )

Headed past the cairn and the house where the ascent begins

long is the way but the ascent is reasonably pleasant
