Ben Vorlich & Stuc a Chroin
Great day with excellent views, warm with pleasant breeze.
Taking The Prow direct was straightforward (but entertaining). The path follows the line of the prow itself with only slight diversions to the left and right of the ridge itself. Only one or two sections where hands/scrambling is required and up close and personal with the prow is much less intimidating than the view from afar. (Although in winter conditions it would be much harder).
From the summit of Stuc a Chroin the path is well defined to the west and below the northerly summit down the shoulder for about 400 metres (with the Prow on your right) to a cairn. The next section is a steep well defined path, scree covered in places leading back towards the bealach between Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin.
The path contours below the bealach, across the western slopes of Ben Vorlich and slides around the shoulder into coire buidhe.
Please note walkers are asked to follow the contour path above the heather in Coire Buidhe rather than dropping down into the coire (see sign at approach).
This is to avoid erosion and this higher path re-joins the main path of ascent.
