Hi
Headed out to do this with GaryH.Hoped for decent weather as MWIS forecast was reasonable for Sunday.
Got up and parked at the head of loch fyne just before 8am and set of along the hike to Inverchorachain.
- The road in.
As described in the WH route the path from Inverchorachain up the LH side of the stream is pretty eroded
and care is required with a decent drop to the stream bed if you slipped,we avoided the last difficult
scramble by heading up the steep grass slope and around. On our descent we came down the other side
which i found much easier.
- path follows the left of this gully.
We were lucky with our views on the way up,snow cover was extensive above 500m but we were a good way up before donning crampons as the snow cover thinned leaving hard packed and ice.
- I am sure it is up that way says Gary.
- The steep push ahead up to ridge, crampons donned at this point.Gary posing.
- The cloud now drifting through created some great images with the sun glinting through.
- From the ridge up to the summit.
- Interesting ice formations, this one was almost like a mini igloo. And me.
The image above is the last one of the day as the cloud and snow closed right in on the summit (honest we got there)
and we did not hang about as we were conscious of the time and getting down before it started to get dark.
This was a great hill to climb in these conditions but ice axes and crampons a must.
8hrs Car to Car but it felt longer and the last climb to the ridge is a steep one.
David.
