Just a short report to conclude the Wainwright bagging round. We (me and Mrs B) camped at Dalegarth and wandered along the lake path to meet six friends at the bridge in Buttermere listening to the cuckoo, seeing the sandpipers. All duly assembled we ambled up the path did a left and eventually hit the summit of my final hill. Out came the champagne, a few photos and then a stroll down to the Bridge Inn for a couple of well deserved pints.

Buttermere

Had to include this last photo as the rest of the day and evening was spent wandering around Buttermere in great weather, wine by the lakeside in the early evening sunlight was a perfect end to a great day. Only problem I have now is when to start Round 2 as Wales and Scotland are both beckoning

Congratulations on finishing your round! Must have felt fantastic on the summit, even before the champagne.
Hope you had a great celebration in the pub after as well.

What are your next plans?

Nice one. Well done, did you have a plan from the start. It's something I've thought of doing but bagging all those little isolated ones is giving me second thoughts. It makes for a lot of trips to the lakes to bag them and it's a long way just to do odd fells without rewalking old ground.

Probably a go at Round 2 to get the one's with misty summits and revisit my favourites and help my two walking mates to finish theirs off. Then there's the 'Outlying Fells' , the 1000m summits in UK, all the Munros, Corbetts and Grahams not forgetting the Hewitts. Should be enough to keep me going still I can't walk another step. Think 1000m summits could be a good place to start!

Never really had a plan Colgregg. I'd done a lot of the biggies (Helvellyn, Scafells etc) back in the 80's and only started the rest, probably remaining 180 five years ago. I have to say that planning some of them was a pain and I did use the car to pick off several odd ones in a day (Sour Howes and Sallows followed by Beda Fell for instance).
The isolated little ones often provided a great day out as you view the biggies from different angles and some are cracking hills in their own right. (Eagle Crag, Sergeant's Crag and Middle Fell were three of my favourites.) As the bug got me, I didn't mind revisiting some of the previous ones as they were in the way of getting the odd ones.

Many thanks Mrs S I've enjoyed it lots. I think I'm going to go after the 1000m summits as a long term plan, as that will definitely include many other types of hill on the way round

Well done Dave. I enjoyed my trip up Rannerdale Knotts last year as part of a round near Grasmoor.

Up in Scotland at the moment, but hoping to finish the Wainwrights myself next year.

Good luck in your future trips.

Thanks Morag, one is humbled. I'm by no means the first and will not be the last, but they are well worth the effort and generally far more accessible than some of the Munros, although not quite as high!!
