Meall a' Ghiuthais

We travelled across to the West coast on the Friday afternoon, and had a short walk in Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve before heading to the Carn Dearg Youth Hostel in Gairloch. Slioch looked good and we had hoped to ascend it over the weekend.

However... the weather on Saturday morning didn't look very promising, with low cloud hiding the tops. We therefore decided to go for the Corbetts of Meall a' Ghiuthais and Ruadh-stac Beag instead.
As we ascended the track beside Allt Sgubaidh the sun came out and for a while we were walking in glorious sunshine, even having to put suncream on!

We passed a pretty wooded glen to our right and had to cross a few streams en route.

The Beinn Eighe massif to our left looked very impressive.

Near the top, the cloud and rain set in and we had little visibility at the summit.
The streams that we had crossed without much difficulty on the way up presented more of a challenge for our descent - it was amazing how much more water was flowing down them! No pictures of the descent though - too wet to get the camera out!
