Munros: Gairich, Sgurr Mor, Sgurr nan Coireachan, Garbh Chioch Mhor, Sgurr na Ciche
Corbetts: Sgurr an Fhuarain

Date: Sunday 7 July 2013
Time taken: 17hrs (including stops 3hrs 40 mins for food, sunbathing, photos, talking to other walkers, river crossing etc)
Distance: 44.5km
Ascent: 3,170m
Attendees: me

Just back from a near three week family holiday so wasn’t sure I’d be able to get out this weekend – weather forecast was a bit “iffy” for the Saturday but looked just too good to miss for the Sunday. Had originally planned this trip as an overnighter but circumstances dictated that wouldn’t be possible. My plan also suggested that the distance would be around 40km so was quite surprised when I downloaded the track to the PC and found that it was a lot further.

Had dinner on Saturday evening then drove up to the far end of Loch Arkaig. Rain on the way up but it had stopped by the time I reached my destination. Was expecting to have to park on the verge but a new car park has been built just before the gate with spaces for quite a few cars which was a real bonus. This meant I could set off around 0430hrs on the Sunday morning.

Walked through the gate and initially up the Glen Dessary path before taking a sharp right at the signpost.

That's a massive round in one day, rockhopper. Some really good pictures and a great story as ever. Sgurr na Ciche is one I'm really looking forward to for the future. It's nice to see some good weather up there at last; it's been beautiful on the Northern English hills recently, so about time NW Scotland had its share.

That was looking long enough before I noticed you'd added Gairich as well  . Good going, and a fantastic day for it :D . Not surpised you were knackered coming back down Glen Dessary - that path beyond the forestry can be quite hard going at the best of times.
