I haven't been in the hills for a very very long time - I notice there are so many tracks now and there seems to be a lot of erosion. Is this a general problem ? Or just isolated cases ?

Best wishes
Adam

Hi Adam

I guess it depends where you go. There is a lot of track erosion on some of the more popular Munros (like Carn Liath in this report) and quite often you can see an ugly line going straight up them (from miles away). On the other side of the coin you can do other less popular Munros and lower hills where it's all heather bashing with no sign of a track and with less use hopefully they will stay that way.

When I'm on a wide eroded track I find it a bit frustrating and when I'm heather bashing (and knackered) I wish I was on a wide easy track...........never happy :? :?

Excuse my ignorance............many hills in Australia???
