Three different days in the Sgorans during the past week.

The Sgorans are my local hills and it is just a twenty minute drive to reach a starting place at several locations in Glen Feshie. Not been out much recently so had to get the legs going again. Last Thursday was an wee afternoon trip up the old stalkers trail from Balnascriten which gives access to the Carn Ban Beag group which I followed to the wee slot after .783...fierce wind from the South here... so got on the lee side and traversed back to the stalkers trail. On Sunday afternoon I journeyed up from the Allt Ruadh to the top of the big west facing slope of Sgor Gaoith in very poor light ....traversed after the descent of the slope to Meall Tionaill and passed the time of day with some skiers who had descended from .1053....later I watched their descent from .976. Today I waited for the new snow to subside and the light to improve....so didn't get out of the motor until 1115...bad practice, but I am glad I did. On approaching the top of Sgor Gaoith from the western slopes a complete clearing happened at around 1400.

The only folks that I met on Sunday were skiers and three overnight snowholers from Dunblane.

Your usually so good with picture recognition on this site....I looked at many of them in the wee competition that you all run...even after having been in many of the areas I still fail to recognise the images. No this one is in Foreign parts...the final wee arete on Castore ....just inside Italy.

That wee top on Cruachan is popular for pictures as it looks so dramatic if taken in the right context

Spectacular views over Glen Einich there! Wish I'd taken a day off now...would have been much better than the weekend. I once picked my way up the crags from Loch Einich onto Sgoran Dubh Mhor (was in the summer though). May post a report sometime. You're local - you must know of some interesting routes on that face?
