A couple of Glenfinnan Corbetts
Posted: Mon Aug 05, 2013 2:56 pmI started the walk from a parking spot just over 1km from Loch Eilt where the road almost touches the railway. I crossed the railway then made my way up to the ridge that leads to Beinn Odhar Mhor. There was no clear way up and it was just a case of trying to find the best route up. Rain showers were constant and i was on and off with the waterproofs, it was too warm to leave them on. Gaining the ridge was also quite hard going in the undulating rough terrain but as height was gained it became easier. I never saw much as i climbed due to the rain and low cloud and eventually i reached a small cairn. I was hoping to see a trigpoint and for a moment thought i was on the wrong hill but soon seen a quarter of a trigpoint with the rest of it nowhere to be seen. I saw very little from this top so headed south in the direction of the first Corbett, Beinn Odhar Bheag and shortly after leaving the top the weather started to clear and i could see my route to Beinn Odhar Bheag as well as the ridge leading to Beinn Mhic Cedidh. It was now fairly easy walking with the views now opening up. I was soon on the first Corbett and after taking some photos i made my way down the ridge to the Bealach before a short steep climb to Beinn Mhic Cedidh, seeing a herd of Deer crossing my path at the Bealach. I initially took the north ridge off Beinn Mhic Cedidh but rather than climb again i descended down towards the Allt a' Choire Bhuidhe, following it down before picking up a ATV track that took me took the main road and a short road walk back to the car.
