Nice pics. Sometimes the lonley trip is better, you sense more of your surroundings.
High mountain camps are best. You need go pick a still winter night for a high camp next.

What tent is it ?

Lenore,

only people who have done a high level camp in Scotland, know how truly beautiful it can be.
I know what you meant about the solitude being both alarming but also spirit-defining.

Thank you for sharing this experience.

Kevin

Great photos there Lenore. I don't think you'll get a better camp spot anywhere else.
This is one hike I have to do next week on the summer meet at Sligathan.

The Rodmiester wrote:I cannot believe it, this is so spooky!, I'm checking out a lot of hills routes just now as I'm heading over to Skye in a couple of weeks for the Summer Meet of WH, and I have just read malkys report, and the first report after reading it, I see yours! I bet that made up for the dissapoinment of the Trotternish ridge being in clag! Some wonderful photographs and what a wild camp setting, very envious of you. Who needs munros when you get walks like that, marvellous :D

A coincidence indeed!! It's well worth doing this one, especially if you can catch that sunrise and / or sunset. I actually though sunrise was more beautiful because of the soft light on the Cuillin. Great you're going out for the meet, might be fewer midges by then ;-) Looking forward to see a report of whatever you end up climbing!

Malky_c, you led the way, thanks again :-D

Cheers blueyed, sunrise is my fav as well!

Cheers mrssanta, gammy and johnkaysleftleg! Do go if you're in the neighborhood :-D

Liltjortindan, what a great little beach isn't it? I was annoyed to see so much trash in the bothy though... Must report that on the MBA site still. Rather appalling the amount of crap people leave. Thanks for the photos, but the second one won't load?

Can remember being up on Sgurr a’Mhadaidh a few days after this looking down the loch to Sgurr na Stri thinking how good a site it would make for a camp - hope I get as good conditions as you if and when I do make it - cheers :)

Hope so too!! There is a bunch of spots to choose from if you have a small tent. Could get closer to the summit as well, but I took one a bit lower down to get the best views down ibto the loch. In fact, don't think my tent has ever been pitched so well! There was enough soil to get the pegs in and conditions were perfect. Not great for a foggy day, though, as I lost the path a few times coming down the next day :-p
