We started this walk at 11am on Friday setting off from Birkhill, our plan was to head to Over Phawhope for an overnight camp in that area. Friday turned out to be a bit overcast but at least it stayed dry, the ground was firm with plenty patches of snow which made good walking all the way over to Black Knowe Head and down to the route of the SUW, we stopped at the bothy which was deserted then found a perfect spot to camp in the corner of a wood which was well sheltered, got the tents up, fed and watered and a nice hot chocolate and dark rum nightcap then settled down for a read of the book before getting the head down. Up at 7.30, got packed up then a healthy breakfast, pork pie and a couple of kabanos sausages washed down with hot black coffee, got the packs on and headed back the way we came, total contrast in weather today, lots of sun and clear blue skies, arrived back at the car just after 3pm.
