This has been on our walking list for sometime. My Wife and I had read alot and seen alot of pics about this trip and were feeling quite good about the challenege before us. We checked the weather the day before which suggested some rain and mist in the early morning but clearing by midday.

We awoke to find patchy cloud and sunshine so decied to go for it. We started out at 10.30am from the layby on the side of the road, with a light rain shower which soon evapourated and by the time we reached the ridge afte a very hard slog, we had jackets, waterproofs and jumpers removed. The sun was out and the cloud had started to break up. We stopped for a cuppa and to take in the views. (Little did we know they would be our last!!)

We pressed on after a wee break and about 45 minutes later the cloud returned and it started to rain and the fog closed in. Due to the rain and seriously reduced visibility we pressed on at a very slow rate taking care with each step so as not to slip or trip up.

Once the rain started it did not let up all day. We continued our slow advance pushing slowly towards our goal. We stopped alot to check and recheck our position so as not to loose the route which for the most part was very good and easy to follow. Due to low visibility we did loose the track a few times on the ups and downs to the Munors, but picked them up again.

By the time we reached the 3rd Munro, Sgur Fhuaran we where both soaked right through and even had a bit of water in our boots!!! We were aware that once we started there was no placed to come down until the third Munro is reached, due to poor visibility we decided to stick to the track we had on our map and GPS, as we couldnt find the track down to the valley floor, which I was aware existed.

We pressed on after a quick bite to eat and eventually reached the end, As we came down off the ridge the weather had started to let up with the rain stopping and the cloud clearing allowing us to see Loch Duich and some good views.

Not what we had hoped for but we finished the walk safely and without incident. :)

We reached the KIntail Lodge by 9.00pm and a thanks to Dougie (Fraserburgh Walking Club) who gave me a lift back to the car as I must have seemed a sorry sight!!!
