Walkhighlands

After a long haul up Braeriach the day before I decided add to my Corbett tally by heading off from the back of Glenmore lodge training centre to do the very remote Creag Mho'r to the South East of Bynack More. Starting off at 0920hrs I decided not to take many photographs at the start of the walk as it has been well documented by many other TR's

An Lochan Uaine or green loch

Ryvoan bothy en route to Nethy Bridge, I took the right fork marked to Braemar earlier which is in fact the Lairig an Laoigh pass

Looking back towards Meall a Bhuachaille with a group of D of E walkers on the track in the distance

Prior to this photograph the steepest and most prolonged climb of the day takes you up the North shoulder of Bynack More, where I met a group from Blairgowrie Hill Walking Club, so if any of you read this, Hi there again, hope you had a good day, and yes the good weather promised arrived in time for your summit walk about and cuppa

Now on the flatter section of the path, with the route up Bynack More now passed on the left, before a gradual descent and a burn crossing, with no difficulties

Creag Mho'r is the summit to the right of the large boulder

Look up to your right and you will see the prominent Barns of Bynack tors

Near the summit of the Corbett being climbed

Two hours Forty mins to the granit tor on top, no trig point or cairn

Just after taking this photographs I met another group of D of E walkers who were to be walking through to Blair Atholl, they picked some nice weather for it with the forcast to be good for another couple of days, hope they were right!

Like the look of this hill, better views than Braeriach...................

Certainly a long way but nice views - like you, I'm also hoping to go back for this corbett. Did try cycling the track after Ryvoan once but gave up part way - cheers

Hi rockhopper, I think some routes are better walked anyway, you tend to miss a lot because your concentrating so much where the bike is going. Granted the first section to about Ryvoan would make a lot of time, but I reckon over the whole route you would loose the time gained and there is a lot to see which you might miss. I had hoped to go further maybe Glen Avon or the Fords of Avon shelter but had to get back and sort out the wee problem of getting all my food etc which I had left in Milehouse bunkhouse at Kincraig and I had no idea who had the keys.

Two and a half hours later, got my food

"Another interesting option (which needs transport arrangements, but you can use the bus) is to start from the ski car park, go up Fiacaill a' Choire Chais to 1141, down Coire Raibert to Loch Avon, along to Fords of Avon, up Creag Mhor, then up Bynack More past the Barns, and out to Glenmore Lodge via Ryvoan."

Looks like ill need to go back and do this one.. should have included it when climbing Bynack Mor. one

Like I should have done as well, but decided to head off up at the back of Cairngorm, mind you it was a big day as it was, lots of snow.
