Day one - the target was Bowfell from Seathwaite via Glaramara (Hind Crag up) and Allen Crags, Esk Pike. Things didn't quite go to plan as the Hind Crag route up is a pretty steep slog and one of our group realised that he wasn't as fit as he used to be. Cloud didn't lift either, so no one was that disappointed to turn right after Allen Crags and head back via Grains Gill.
A quick Wainwright reading at the summit pointed out the good, well cairned, path between Glaramara and Allen Crags - this obviously wasn't the one we took initially (there are two on the map) as we managed to walk off of it between Looking Steads and Red Beck Top.
Phone with ViewRanger quickly put us right.
