Ben Vorlich (at last!)

At last, a clear weather forecast, even if the wind chill was looking eh well chilly. Bit late in arriving and energy levels felt low so this became a bit if a challenge, still the views all round were worth it. Freezing cold at the loch side which didn't bode well for higher altitude so layered up big style but yet apart from the final ascent it was actually pretty mild all the way up.

rest stop number 100 and something!

Met some really nice folks en route and a group of 4 guys on the summit, 3 brothers and their dad who was doing his first Munro (and his last says he). Really windy and cold on the final ascent but amazingly just dropped on to the grass slope behind the trig point where it was very calm and a sun trap as I grazed and gazed over to the Stuc. Original plan was to do this as well, but just didn't feel up to it and time was against me. One of the guys kindly took a photo on the trig point and I reciprocated.

maybe next time

On way back down I met a dad and his 11 year old daughter, they had got pretty far up but felt the next stage was just too much, shared an entertaining walk with them back down from the bridge at the point where the path becomes broader.

Really pleased to have done this, the views at the top are just stunning and the vista below you as you descend equally so with great autumn colours. Well deserved pint at the sadly tired looking (but welcoming) Strathyre Inn capped off a great day. In the last 13 days thats 1 sub 2000, 1 Corbett, and 3 Munros, really loving this and wish I had done more in my earlier years, so just need to make up for it now.

A special mention to this site which has been a great source of inspiration and knowledge. I am really enjoying reading the blogs and working out the next challenge from the vast amount of information on here. Thanks to all involved.
