Ladhar Bheinn and huff at ceilidh

Had a good walk up Ladhar Bheinn in the fine long summer of 1995. After the walk to Barrisdale Bay we swam or, rather, my companion swam whilst I paddled. The Bay is sandy bottomed and clear and the water was warm enough for this to be a pleasure.
Mid afternoon we set of for our hill, aiming to capture the sunset and with a plan A of spending the night in the bothy and a plan B of going to Inverie Highland Games ceilidh. Having waited on the summit whilst the sun set and an afterglow took over the sky we made the reckless decision to put plan B in to operation. Descending the south flank in darkness wasn't that much fun and we were tired by the time we hit the estate road to Inverie and very tired and not speaking to each other by the time we arrived at the ceilidh. So each sat in opposite corners whilst the band played and after a couple of hours a truce broke out of the necessity of a return home. Happily, there was now enough light to make the walk to Mam Barrisdale easy. We slept for a couple of hours at the bothy and then headed off again for the hitch hike back to our bus to Aberdeen at Inverness.
Still keep in touch!
